ABOUT OUR STRINGS Lessons (AGES 5+)
If you want to start playing a strings instrument, Expressions Music Academy is the perfect place to start. We offer 30, 45, or 60-minute private violin, viola, and cello lessons for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. The curriculum at our Ashburn, VA studio leverages the Suzuki method alongside other teaching methods for a well-rounded music education that gives students strong foundations of intonation, technique, and note-reading. As a result, students of all ages and skill levels learn to play their favorite songs while also being introduced to various new styles of music such as classical, movie themes, contemporary/pop, fiddling, folk, Celtic, and more. In addition, our instructors can work with you can tailor your lesson plans to help you reach any unique goal you have with your music, whether you want to further your hobby, prepare for an audition, or master a complex piece of music.

When you start at Expressions Music Academy in Ashburn as a beginner, you’re taught by our knowledgeable and trained instructors. Our instructors create structured lesson plans that help students master strings fundamentals such as good posture, bow control and technique, intonation, tone production, note-reading, rhythm, theory, and more. We are also one of the only music academies that offer private strings lessons for toddlers through our Animal Adventures in Music Program. At Expressions Music Academy, our goal is to ensure that our beginner students have a positive learning experience and love their lessons. VIOLIN, VIOLA & CELLO LESSONS FOR ADVANCED STUDENTS IN ASHBURN
We offer music lessons for intermediate and advanced students if you want to level up your strings education. Our advanced classes are great if you have prior experience playing strings or started with us as a beginner. Intermediate and advanced students in Ashburn learn to play more challenging pieces while fine-tuning and polishing their playing. At Expressions Music Academy, we have the best strings instructors in Virginia because they want to teach here. Our instructors are passionate about teaching music and fostering a positive learning environment, which is reflected in the success of our students. When our instructors teach you, you learn from someone who either holds or is actively pursuing a music degree and has had prior music teaching experience. Each of our Ashburn instructors goes through a rigorous hiring process that consists of numerous screenings, auditions, and interviews. Once hired, our instructors go through an all-inclusive training program and are evaluated regularly to ensure consistent excellence.
FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING AND MAKE-UP OPTIONS 7 DAYS A WEEK IN ASHBURN
If you’re concerned about whether you’ll have time for strings lessons, don’t be! At Expressions Music Academy, we have several strings lesson times available during the week and weekend to accommodate your busy schedule. Our Ashburn location is open year-round, even during the summer. We also have an unlimited schedule-change policy, making it easy to change your lesson time, cancel your lesson, or perform a make-up class. And, if you cannot come into the studio for your make-up lesson, you can request a custom video make-up lesson from your instructor instead.
BIANNUAL RECITALS IN ASHBURN
Through recitals, our students get a chance to showcase their newly-learned skills and gain experience and confidence performing in front of an audience (not to mention show their parents the progress they are making with their lessons). At Expressions Music Academy, we offer optional free biannual recitals for our students. Students perform these one-hour recitals around various options and themes in our concert hall in Ashburn.
LEVEL UP MUSIC ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM
For over a decade, our Level Up Music Achievement Program has helped our students enthusiastically make progress on their music lessons, earning rewards along the way. We like to think of it as a martial arts black belt program for music lessons. Though optional, we highly encourage all Expressions students to participate in this nationally recognized program. Students who participate have never felt more motivated to master their instruments.
MONTH-TO-MONTH LESSON STRUCTURE
At Expressions Music Academy in Ashburn, we don’t lock our strings students to long-term quarterly or annual commitments for their music lessons. Instead, students only commit to strings lessons for one month at a time.
